Toronto, ON (January 6, 2012) – PUPPY BOWL is back for its eighth consecutive Super Bowl Sunday with an all-star, all-adorable cast that's ready to mix it up on the grand gridiron of Animal Planet Stadium! Premiering Sun., Feb. 5 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. PT and featuring that classic combination of terrier touchdowns, puppy penalties, and fido first fumbles – don’t miss a second as these captivating puppies pounce, play, and score! The two-hour PUPPY BOWL is repeated immediately to create a four-hour “game time” block to ensure viewers can see who is named MVP (Most Valuable Puppy)!

In a game-day first, a piggy pep squad will “ham” it up on the sidelines and squeal with delight for its favourite players while “Meep the Bird” tweets all the fast-paced action. Follow @MeepTheBird on game day for the latest updates, puppy drama and behind-the-scenes moments. Award-winning animal advocate and television correspondent Jill Rappaport will provide up-to-the-minute sideline analysis and commentary on the game, and fans will be treated to PUPPY BOWL favourites such as the puppy cam, water bowl cam, kiss cam and an aerial view of the field provided by a hamster-driven blimp!

While Madonna may be taking the stage during the day’s “other big game,” she’s got nothing on the fancy felines of the Kitten Halftime Show! The 30-minute spectacular features dazzling lights, laser pens, scratching posts and the pièce de résistance – a ball of yarn! Don’t miss the grand finale with curious kittens chasing each other – and their own tails – through an avalanche of confetti!

PUPPY BOWL continues to be a unique and innovative marquee event that features nine-week-old cute and cuddly puppies directly from shelters. The show provides information on adopting rescued puppies and helping their local shelters. In fact, all of the precious puppies featured in Animal Planet’s PUPPY BOWL come from SPCAs, shelters and pet rescue centres from across the U.S. Canadians interested in adopting from a shelter in their area can visit petfinder.com for more information.
