– An engrossing look at a close-knit company of firefighters, FIREHOUSE USA: BOSTON reveals what a firefighter’s life is really like –

Toronto, ON (May 26, 2010) – Rushing head first into danger to battle infernos and save lives, firefighters are called into action to tackle both life-threatening emergencies and common catastrophes. But what are these homegrown heroes doing when their lives are not on the line? Capturing each pulse-pounding emergency and behind-the-scenes drama, Discovery Civilization presents FIREHOUSE USA: BOSTON beginning Saturday, June 26 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT. Earning them the nickname “The Huntington Avenue Express,” this 13-part series reveals the crews of Engine 37 and Ladder 26 – the Boston Fire Department’s busiest firehouse. In FIREHOUSE USA: BOSTON meet this elite group of firefighters and watch as they struggle to keep their solidarity strong despite the stress of their job and intense physical training.

Battling crime scenes, radiation, suicide and bomb threats, the crew featured in FIREHOUSE USA: BOSTON is faced with new and unexpected disasters each and every day. But when a lack of fires has the crew at Huntington Avenue on each others nerves, arguments break out and pranks turn destructive. Then after a veteran transfers out of the house and a longtime captain says goodbye, the firehouse tension rises. And just as the team’s new recruits complete their training, a series of manhole explosions rock Boston and Smokey the cat goes missing. From one of the United States’ great historical hubs, come stories ablaze with the bonds of camaraderie and friendship among seasoned veterans and rookies alike.
