“Building on the strength of Bell Media’s specialty networks’ winter schedules, we’ve added a wide variety of fresh new programming that covers all the genres,” said Rick Brace, President, Specialty Channels and CTV Production. “From drama and reality to docu-series, we’re delivering entertaining series for every viewer, every night of the week and in every timeslot this summer.”

This winter, Bell Media’s specialty channels continued to enjoy tremendous growth and reach among Canadians. Reaching 78% of all non-sports specialty viewers in the average week, more than Shaw, Corus, Rogers or CBC stations, Bell Media also broadcast each of the top 4 programs, GOLD RUSH: ALASKA (Discovery Channel), CANADA’S WORST DRIVER (Discovery Channel), DOCTOR WHO (SPACE) and THE BIG BANG THEORY Marathon (The Comedy Network), on Canadian non-Sports specialty television this year (P2+, minimum 3 airings).

Specifically, Discovery Channel has reached more viewers in the average week than any other Canadian non-sports specialty (P2+); overall viewing (P2+) is up by 21% over the same weeks last year on Bravo! and The Comedy Network; E! is ranked by Canadians as the specialty channel with the best entertainment news*; SPACE ranks as a top 10 Canadian non-sports specialty channel (A25-54); and MuchMusic ranks among the top 10 Canadian non-sports specialty channels with a weekly reach of more than 1.9 million in the P12-34 demo.
