Toronto, ON (December 23, 2011) – And that’s a wrap! The 45th Annual CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish Campaign came to a close today at noon with the announcement that the program will assist 300,000 individuals through toy and financial assistance this Christmas. This year the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish will support 335 community agencies in the Greater Toronto community who help deploy assistance to families and children in need across the city. In addition, the new online donation option prompted a spike in financial donations to the Wish Campaign.

Also this year, AIR MILES employees generously donated $125,000 and more than 1,500 toys to the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. The donation exceeded their goal of $100,000, as announced by Bryan Pearson, President of LoyaltyOne, owner and operator of the AIR MILES Reward Program on December 21, 2011. In addition, voting is still open for AIR MILES “Holiday March To A Million” Facebook Campaign with every vote bringing the Wish closer to winning one million AIR MILES to put towards charitable initiatives.

“With 45 years of making Christmas wishes come true, we are still going strong thanks to the generous support of CP24’s viewers and CHUM FM and TSN Radio listeners,” said Chris Gordon, President, Radio & Local TV, Bell Media and President of the CHUM Charitable Foundation. “We’ve been wowed by the response from individual volunteers at the Wish Warehouse as well as our dedicated community partners who help us meet the need year-after-year.”

The CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish would like to thank their community partners: RBC Royal Bank, AIR MILES/Loyalty One, Budget Car and Truck Rental and Coca-Cola for their generosity and continued support.

About the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish
The CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish was originally established in 1966 as CHUM’s Kid’s Crusade Foundation, for the purpose of assisting children in need and children’s charities. In 1973, the name was changed to the CHUM Charitable Foundation in order to broaden the scope of the foundation’s work, including the increase in requests for financial assistance from adults in need. In 2008, the program became known as the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish.
