Toronto, ON (December 20, 2011) – The mother of all dance parties is back as MuchMusic and 5 Gum present a special, one-night-only, New Year’s Eve edition of ELECTRIC CIRCUS, Much’s iconic dance show. ELECTRIC CIRCUS: NYE DANCE PARTY airs live from MuchMusic HQ in downtown Toronto, Saturday Dec. 31 from 10 p.m. ET to 12:15 a.m. ET and hosted by Tyrone “T-RexXx” Edwards and NEW.MUSIC.LIVE.’s Liz Trinnear, the jam-packed dance party rocks the block with DJ, Grandtheft, hundreds of ELECTRIC CIRCUS-worthy dancers, two $5,000 cash-prize giveaways, a dance crew competition, and a sick playlist of videos and mash-ups.

In celebration of the launch of the new 5 Gum, viewers tuning in have a chance to win some cold, hard cash as MuchMusic and 5 Gum give away two, $5,000 cash prizes! Throughout the live broadcast of ELECTRIC CIRCUS: NYE DANCE PARTY, two lucky winners will get a call from T-RexXx and Liz, live on-air, and must answer their phones by saying a secret phrase given out during the show that night. The contest begins today at 10 a.m. ET, and runs through to Saturday, Dec. 31 at 9 p.m. ET on MuchMusic.com/electriccircus.

Also, starting tomorrow, fans at home have the chance to program the first video to air on Much in 2012, by voting for their favourite on muchmusic.com. The five fave to choose from are:

Before the night reaches a fever-pitch level, MuchMusic warms up viewers with one of the decade’s most stirring documentaries, MICHAEL JACKSON’S THIS IS IT. Airing at 8 p.m. ET, the two-hour documentary gives viewers a rare behind-the-scenes look, following the King of Pop as he prepares for what would have been his comeback tour. Chronicling the months from April through June 2009, the film captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his planned final London shows.
